Education Resources
I am a life long learner and this area of the website includes resources in support of ELA (English Language Arts) and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education that I continue update over time.
This work is based on my 17 years of experience as a professional educator and my ongoing research, with an emphasis on helping teachers and parents understand and implement the common core state standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). |

A Passion for Education
I started teaching science as a volunteer at my son's elementary school while working as a technical writer and ISO 9000 manager. I eventually transitioned into a career as a credentialed teacher. My focus as an educator has been on teaching students to be life-longer learners and problem solvers so that they may be successful in college and their future careers. This includes, most importantly, teaching them how to teach themselves! However, I have also emphasized development of technical reading and writing skills, professionalism, and critical thinking skills. Perhaps the most important thing I have hoped my students would take away from their experiences with me is a realization that their education is their own responsibility - the more they invest in their courses, the more they will get out of them. It's up to them to make the very best of their time in school! I am excited about the technological revolution that is reshaping how people learn. I am eager to be a part of this revolution, and want to be at the forefront of helping to develop new technologies that contribute to a redesign of our education system and provide learning opportunities to help every individual meet their full potential.
